JULIA MUKAI
Julia Mukai is a 2D animator, illustrator, motion designer, and collaborator. Born in Maine, Mukai attends Pratt Institute, earning her BFA in 2D Animation with a minor in Psychology. Her body of work ranges from collaborative PSAs for organizations like The Center for Popular Democracy to assisting Signe Baumane in her upcoming film, Karmic Knot. She takes the viewer to an uncanny, psychological, and surreal space. Often to push one’s relationship to their mind and the world around them. Her work has been featured in the Andrea DeFeliece Gallery in Brooklyn and as a creative Ambassador for The Yellow Tulip Project. Mukai’s passion for psychology and mental health activism inspires her both in and outside the academic space as she is the President of The Yellow Tulip Project at Pratt. Currently working on her thesis film, On Time Off Time, Mukai is working as a peer advisor to students at Pratt’s Student Success Center helping students with time management.
